ASFWatch PH republishes official African Swine Fever (ASF) figures for the Philippines in one place. It is an independent project, not a DA-BAI site: every figure links back to the document it came from, and the original documents are the authority where they differ from anything shown here.

Zones
DA-BAI classifies every city and municipality into one of five zones under the National Zoning and Movement Plan for ASF (DA Administrative Circular No. 12, s. 2019, 10 December 2019; the link is FAO’s copy of the DA circular, because BAI's own link no longer works), as amended by DA Administrative Circular No. 02, s. 2022. The site uses DA's colours. What each zone means, in the terms of AC 02, Sec. I.3:
- Red (infected): Confirmed ASF outbreaks in the city or municipality.
- Pink (buffer): No ASF detected, but right around a red zone.
- Yellow (surveillance): No ASF detected, but next to a pink zone: high risk.
- Light green (protected): No ASF detected; moderate risk.
- Dark green (free): No ASF detected; low risk.
AC 12 defined the zones by province in 2019; AC 02 redefined them for each city and municipality. What may leave each zone is on What should I do about ASF?
How provinces are shaded
The map shades each province by the worst zone among its cities and municipalities, so a province shown red may be mostly pink or yellow; each province's panel shows the full mix. The reverse also happens: a province shown pink or green can have active cases (see below). The map draws those provinces with a dashed dark outline, and their panel says so. The map has 85 areas: 82 provinces, Metro Manila as one area, the City of Isabela (an independent city outside Basilan province) and the BARMM Special Geographic Area. Highly urbanized cities are counted in the province they sit in. DA-BAI's zoning status doesn't list the Special Geographic Area's municipalities separately, so that area shows as not in the zoning list.
"In this zone since" is the date of the first zoning status on file with the current zone. Where the zone was already in force in the oldest status on file, its start isn't known and the site shows that date "or earlier".
Active cases and the two dates
"Active cases" are counted the way DA-BAI's ASF status updates count them: barangays with active cases, grouped by city/municipality and province. They are not numbers of animals. The status update gives the number of barangays per province and names the cities/municipalities; a count per city/municipality is shown only where the province's row names a single one.
Zones come from DA-BAI's National Zoning Status and active cases from its ASF status update. The two are published separately (each about every two weeks), so figures carry their own dates (shown under each page's title). A town can have active cases while its zone has not yet been raised, or keep a red zone after its cases have cleared; the site shows both as published and flags the difference instead of reconciling it.
How the data is processed
- DA-BAI's published report lists are checked every morning, and each new file's SHA-256 checksum is recorded (listed below).
- Tables are read from the PDFs' text. Place names are matched to the Philippines – Subnational Administrative Boundaries (COD-AB) (v03) within their province; spellings that differ (for example "Appari" for Aparri) go through a reviewed list of aliases. Zone labels are normalized (for example "Buff er Zone" → Buffer).
- New documents are read automatically, but anything that doesn't match cleanly is flagged, and a person checks every update against the PDF before it is published.
- When DA-BAI revises earlier figures (for example past months in the monthly series), the latest document wins. Earlier values stay in the project's version history.
- History starts with the zoning status of 10 January 2025 and the status update of 17 October 2025. Earlier status updates, and the zoning status of 26 June 2026, were published as scanned images and aren't read; each month shows the latest document issued by its end.
- The changes on "What changed" are found by comparing each DA-BAI document with the previous one of the same kind, province by province: a first city/municipality in a red zone ("New red zone"); more cities/municipalities in red, a worse zone, new active cases, or active cases up by at least five and by half ("Getting worse"); and the reverse changes ("Getting better"). Changes from the 180 days before the latest document are shown. They are not official advisories. When a zoning status lists a province differently from both the status before it and the one after it, which agree with each other, the change didn't last: the changes into and out of that status are labelled "Reports disagree", and "In this zone since" looks past it.
Pig numbers and prices (PSA)
The pig numbers and prices on Pigs and pork prices and the province pages come from three tables of the Philippine Statistics Authority's OpenSTAT, fetched by hand when PSA updates them:
- Swine: Inventory by Classification, Province, and Quarter, 2010-2026 (0032E4FINS0): updated by PSA on 6 August 2026, next update 6 November 2026.
- Livestock and Poultry (Household): Farmgate Prices by Commodity, Province, Region, Monthly, 2010-2026 (0032M4AFN10): updated by PSA on 4 August 2026, next update 6 November 2026.
- Livestock: Retail Prices of Agricultural Commodities by Geolocation, Commodity, Year and Period (0042M4ARN09): updated by PSA on 1 October 2026, next update 4 November 2026.
- Farm sizes are PSA's: smallhold, 1 to 100 head (1 to 10 sows); semi-commercial, 101 to 500 head (11 to 50 sows); commercial, 501 head and over (51 sows and over). Pigs are counted on the farms on the first day of each quarter.
- The farmgate price is what raisers receive for a hog sold live for slaughter, at the farm, per kilogram of live weight, from PSA's household survey. Retail prices are the average price of a kilogram of pork kasim and liempo at sample outlets in major markets. The two are not prices of the same thing.
- PSA's rows are matched to provinces by name, because PSA's codes differ between its tables, through the same reviewed aliases as DA-BAI's place names. The national figures are PSA's own Philippines rows, not a sum of the provinces.
- Cities that PSA counts apart from their province (Zamboanga City and Davao City from April 2025; Puerto Princesa, Bacolod and Butuan from 2026) are added back into the province for pig numbers, so its series continues. Prices use the province's own row, because averages can't be added.
- No figures: Maguindanao del Norte and del Sur up to October 2024, while PSA reports them together as "Maguindanao"; pig numbers for the City of Isabela and the Special Geographic Area; retail prices for Davao Oriental and most of BARMM.
- PSA marks its latest period preliminary and revises earlier ones. Each update replaces the figures shown; earlier ones stay in the project's version history.
Vaccination milestones
The milestones on ASF vaccination so far are written by hand from DA and DA-BAI publications, and the maintainer approves each one before it is published.
- Sources: a DA or DA-BAI publication where one exists. A news report is used only for what DA or DA-BAI announced, and is marked as such.
- Dates are when something happened, as the source states it. Where sources disagree, both are cited and the entry says so.
- Places are only those a source names.
- Doses are counted only when a source says they were given; doses "released" or "allocated" are not counted.
- Every entry was last checked against its sources on 5 October 2026.
Known data issues
Source documents sometimes disagree with themselves: a zone category and colour that don't match, place-name typos, a row without a province. When a zone category and its colour disagree, the category is used unless a reviewer decides otherwise, and the city/municipality is listed below with a note.
| City/municipality | Note |
|---|---|
| Cortes, Bohol | DA-BAI lists this as “Infected Zone” but colours it Pink; the category is shown. |
| Sogod, Cebu | DA-BAI lists this as “Buffer Zone” but colours it Red; the category is shown. |
Zoning statuses that disagree with the ones before and after them
How these are handled is under How the data is processed.
| Zoning status | Provinces listed differently |
|---|---|
| 10 July 2026 | Camarines Sur |
| 5 June 2026 | Albay |
| 8 May 2026 | Quezon |
| 12 December 2025 | Leyte |
| 8 August 2025 | Romblon |
Documents behind the current figures
Download the data
The figures on this site, as spreadsheet files (CSV). Each is rebuilt with the site, so it holds the same data as the pages. Codes are the COD-AB codes used throughout, dates are written YYYY-MM-DD, and an empty cell is a value the documents don't give. The document columns hold ids from documents.csv, so the files can be joined. The files are UTF-8 and open directly in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets. Reusing them follows the terms below.

Reuse and copyright
Each source's terms are in the table above. Philippine government works also need the agency's prior approval to be exploited for profit (RA 8293, Sec. 176). ASFWatch PH does not use DA or BAI logos. The source documents are shown as unmodified copies, each checked against its SHA-256 and linked to the original on bai.gov.ph.
Province pages have share links. They are plain links: nothing is sent to Facebook, Viber or any other service until you tap one, and the site loads no third-party scripts. The Share button opens your phone's own share menu.
